WGX-1 ACTISENSE NMEA 2000 & NMEA 0183 Wi-Fi Gateway

The WGX-1 ACTISENSE is a flexible, dual-protocol Wi-Fi multiplexer gateway engineered to seamlessly bridge vessel navigation systems with modern wireless platforms. Capable of processing both NMEA 2000 Parameter Group Numbers (PGNs) and NMEA 0183 serial data streams, the WGX-1 ACTISENSE broadcasts vessel telemetry—such as position, depth, wind, AIS targets, and engine data—directly to mobile tablets, smartphones, smartwatches, and onboard PCs.

Equipped with bi-directional conversion algorithms, the WGX-1 ACTISENSE allows marine navigation applications (including Navionics, iNavX, TimeZero, OpenCPN, and Aqua Map) to send autopilot commands, waypoint routes, and custom data back to the vessel network. Integrated web-based configuration tools make commissioning straightforward across iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows browsers without requiring separate software downloads.

Key Features of the WGX-1 ACTISENSE

• Dual Network Integration: Bridges NMEA 2000 CAN-bus backbones and legacy NMEA 0183 serial talker/listener channels onto a single wireless output stream.

• Bi-Directional Conversion: Converts NMEA 2000 to NMEA 0183 (and vice versa) for universal streaming over TCP/UDP sockets and Signal K protocols.

• Flexible Wi-Fi Modes: Configurable as an independent Access Point (AP) for direct wireless connections or as a Client joined to an existing onboard Wi-Fi network router.

• Opto-Isolated Inputs & OPTO-Drive Outputs: Protects connected instrument ports and PC interfaces against dangerous ground loop potential and electrical surge transients.

• Browser-Based Configuration Manager: Onboard web server interface allows effortless filter setup, baud rate adjustment, and diagnostics via standard web browsers.

• Diagnostic LED Indicators: Real-time visual LEDs for NMEA 2000 Rx/Tx, NMEA 0183 Rx/Tx, power, and Wi-Fi status simplify installation troubleshooting.

Primary Applications

• Hybrid Marine Instrument Integration: Unifying legacy NMEA 0183 transducers and modern NMEA 2000 backbones with mobile tablet displays

• Mobile Helm & On-Deck Monitoring: Streaming real-time depth, GPS, engine telemetry, and AIS data to mobile screens around the vessel

• Wireless Autopilot Control: Transmitting heading, waypoint, and steer-to-route data from mobile navigation applications back to vessel autopilots
